Cottage Cheese Salad is a unique side dish that is full of fresh, delicious ingredients. It will go well with just about anything and is easy to make!
Cottage Cheese Salad is kicking off my series of recipes that I will be showcasing throughout the fall and winter. For the next while, I want to share with you recipes that are a part of my families’ holiday celebrations. These recipes are always present at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Some of the recipes are my own and some, like this one, are from family members.
Cottage Cheese Salad is something that I have never come across before I met my sister-in-law, Kim. I’m not really sure why I hadn’t as it doesn’t contain any crazy ingredients that are hard to find or has instructions that take forever. The ingredient list is short and the directions are very straight forward. I have looked for similar recipes but have not really found anything quite like it. It is very unique and really good!
Cottage Cheese Salad is a unique side dish that is full of fresh, delicious ingredients and could not be simpler to make!
- 1 600 g Tub Dry Curd Cottage Cheese
- 1 Cup Sour Cream
- 1 Cup Green Onions, chopped
- 1-2 Tbsp Fresh Dill You could use dried dill as well, approx 1-2 tsp
- Salt and Pepper to taste
In a flat dish, place 1 cup of the dry curd cottage cheese and with a fork, mash the large curds into smaller pieces. Empty into a large bowl and continue with the next cup of dry curd cottage cheese. Once all of the dry curd cottage cheese has been mashed, add in the cup of sour cream and blend well. You can add more in if you would like to the desired consistency. Add the green onions to the mixture as well as the dill. Depending on your personal preference, you can add more or less dill, or omit it if you would rather. Next, add in the salt and pepper to taste. Use sea salt if possible as plain cottage cheese is quite bland and really could use a healthy dose of salt to spice it up! Once it is all mixed in together, cover and place in the fridge for a few hours before serving.
The picture below demonstrates the few ingredients needed for Cottage Cheese Salad. It has very straightforward instructions and with just a little dicing and chopping, it’s ready to enjoy. This dish is most flavourful if it is made in advance so that all of the ingredients are able to meld together.
